Cheap Soho alternatives to working from home

So you’ve finally outgrown your home office and need a new alternative…but maybe you’re not quite ready to take up your own space? This inevitable crossroad poses a list of problems for startups, but there is no need to panic…yet. There are plenty of cheap solutions to progressing your business whilst avoiding long term commitments to landlords. Between flexible serviced offices, coworking spaces and a few tricks up our own sleeve, Soho can be an affordable market even for start-ups.

Long known for its vibrancy, Soho is now the modern home of much of London’s media world and hosts many of its most creative businesses. The West End is one of the most sought after locations in London but is not only obtainable by large businesses. Here are 4 cheap solutions to bag yourself a piece of the Soho action.

Sohost

Sohost is a forward thinking, relaxed and energised workspace, designed for evolving businesses with the aim of unlocking their potential. Sohost’s inviting atmosphere works on a basis of collaboration between driven entrepreneurs in an inspiring environment.

Offering simple rolling monthly arrangements Sohost is an affordable alternative to a home office. Memberships include dedicated desk space, WiFi, meeting room space, printing/scanning/copying, shower facilities, tea and coffee, freshly made daily bread and delicious homemade cakes! And all for a reasonable £500 (excl VAT) per month.

What’s more, Sohost have also got their ethics right; green energy, Fair Trade products, re-purposed and locally made furniture and zero waste to landfills.

The Soho Collective

This stylish workspace dubs itself “the most gorgeous place to work in Soho” and we can hardly disagree. Situated on Old Compton Street above Ed’s Diner, this coworking space attracts them all – journalists, designers, film-makers and even a high end wine merchant!

The Soho Collective, in short, is a bunch of creatives sharing workspace and, when they can, scratching each other’s backs….and did we mention they had a bar?

Pricing for a month includes 24/7 access, Wifi, printing, tea and coffee, sweet treats and locker storage and starts from £410 per person.

The Den

The Den, opened earlier this year, offers workspace in a beautiful environment. Designed to inspire and energise its occupants, this creative workspace hosts regular events, provides mentorship and training workshops, and best of all, holds monthly drinks on their roof terrace.

The Den’s has its own in-house barista, fresh juices and healthy salads from Homegrown as well as all the basics; high speed internet, printing, showers, meeting rooms, reception services and events space.

Although not strictly in Soho (roughly a 10 minute walk away), we’ve included The Den as it is a cheaper alternative with a great community vibe. Full membership with unlimited access is around £200 per month.

Wework

A recent article in the Telegraph looked at the Wework phenomenon and the possibilities coworking offers when it comes to fostering the next big company. Wework offers both private offices as well as hot desks and maintains its collaborative atmosphere through its weekly events, comfortable working lounges and the online Wework member network, allowing collaboration with entrepreneurs across the globe.

Private offices at Wework are great for creative companies looking for flexible space, and are used by startups and large corporations alike.
